[-- Attachment #1.1.1: Type: text/plain, Size: 760 bytes --]

Hi everyone,

I started to deal with Emacs and I read the tutorial in my German language.

The Emacs Manual is only in English available.

Does a German translation exist?, because my English knowledge is too
little to understand everything.

I had been looking on the web to find a German translation of the
manual, but I didn't find anything.
There was one of 2011, but you would need to log in.

If there is no German translation available, what is the best way to
translate some text.

Translation within Emacs or on the web.

I haven't dealt with this question yet, so I need some pieces of advice.
I prefer to ask before loosing a lot of time to look for a solution myself.

Thanks for help

Kind regards

Gottfried

no.

Could you please post that link, I did not find it with a
bit of searching.

Nowadays nonfree automated translating services are
available. But one usually only gets some tiny (compared to
the manual) amount of text translated without paying.

AFAIK there is no infrastructure from GNU to cooperatively
translate manuals.

No, not to the best of my knowledge.

etc/refcards/de-refcard.tex.

Michael.

Hmm - that's from 2004, not available outside of the web archive - and
there don't seem to be any contents, it seems to be only an
announcement...

Trotzdem danke.

Michael.

Noch älter, die Sprache wirkt zum Teil leicht grotesk - aber mit Liebe
geschrieben, das muß man sagen.

Ich glaube für den OP ist es vom Niveau her zu einfach. An das
Emacs-Manual kommt das Buch wohl nicht ran.

Trotzdem ein nettes Buch, danke für's Teilen.

Michael.

Hello,

https://wwwuser.gwdg.de/~wgriege/emacsanf.pdf

another classical emacs book in german, but its from 1994 and very
basic. The prolog tells us what a text editor is.

The title is paraphrasing the title of a play of Edward Albee ("Who's afraid of
Virginia Woolf?")

Best Regards

Stefan Husmann
