This is not only for the subset that uses git dependencies.  It is for
anyone writing and using Elixir packages, see my paragraph about
reference baking (in general, not git-specific):

More specifically, you could look at how, say, 'info-reader' uses
'substitute*', 'search-input-file', 'gunzip' and 'gzip'
