I think this would be very nice and make relationship-with-Emacs issues
easier to handle.  The "status" of a file would be obvious just from its
name, and if someone wanted to locate the same file in an Emacs tree,
it would be completely obvious where it is. :-)

In addition, it would help work around a mis-feature of arch that
sometimes bites me when syncing between Emacs and Gnus:  changesets
including new files create the files using an absolute path-name (not
parent-directory-id+name), so I've got to manually fix them up (move the
new file) if applying the changeset to a different directory structure.
[Arch mis-features aren't a very good a reason to change Gnus of course,
but thought I'd mention it.]
