Many, many package managers exist. I don't know of a comprehensive,
up-to-date document comparing them all. However, I do know that Eelco
Dolstra's Ph. D. thesis contains an insightful look into the state of
the art package managers circa 2006. It might be a good place to
start. You can find a copy here:
