Hi, folks

(x-popup-menu
  (list '(1 1) (selected-window))
(list "title" (cons "title" '(("ignore" 'ignore)))
   ))

This shows menu on released version of emacs and I can select item by mouse.
But the menu disappears instantly on
GNU Emacs 21.3.50.1 (i586-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars) of 2002-09-29 on debian

It works fine for me with "-q --no-site-file". Could you try and track
down what part of your config causes the trouble ?
(or was it just fixed since you sent the report?)

Thanks for your follow-up message.
Now I just cvs updated and try with new emacs after make distclean;make bootstrap;make install.
Even if I try with "emacs -q -no-site-file", the popup-menu appears and then disappears after
very very short time.
I've tested again and again, then sometimes the X focus on emacs frame went out and the
popup-menu remains. But for many cases it disappears instantly.

On the other hand, with emacs-21.2, the X focus on emacs frame does not go out,
while the popup-menu does remain.

I'm using sawfish without gnome on XFree86-4.1.0 running under Debian linux.

What was the reason for the change from highlighting the 5th and 9th
menu entries to highlighting every third entry ?
The question is not really about the change in the distance, but
about the fact that there's no upper-limit any more: we happily
highlight the entry number 45, although I doubt anybody will be able
to use this "visual cue" in any way (especially since the only
command that can use the numbering is Info-nth-menu-item which
is only meaningful when bound to keys 0-9).
Why not only highlight '(3 6 9) ?

What was the reason for the change from highlighting the 5th and 9th
menu entries to highlighting every third entry ?

The change to every third was to make it easier to count for small
numbers. The reason to continue is that it looked strange for them to
stop.
