Hello,

When I fill a paragraph in a plain list, I get a hash mark at the
beginning of the new line e.g.

* Do stuff
  - stuff should be done in such a manner as to maximize stuff getting
#done being done whenever there is stuff to be done

Where did this come from? This is not a fill-prefix, as I can cancel
the fill-prefix, and this still happens (and fill-prefix is already
nil). Did I enable this by mistake?

Thanks,

Joel

http://orgmode.org/worg/org-faq.php#auto-fill-and-unwanted-comments

says:

"Make sure that the variable comment-start is nil."

Have you've set it accidentally/deliberately?

Hi Joel,

I do not get this behaviour with either

GNU Emacs 22.2.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.11) of 2008-11-09 on raven, modified by Debian
Org-mode version 6.36trans (release_6.36.141.gbc53b)

or

GNU Emacs 23.2.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600) of 2010-05-08 on G41R2F1
Org-mode version 6.36trans (release_6.36.138.gea3c)

Can you try with a minimal emacs setup and see if this behaviour is
specific to your emacs customizations?

HTH,
Bernt
