git://localhost/~ambrevar/projects/emacs’ work?

It does, see https://www.gnu.org/software/guix/manual/html_node/Version-Control-Services.html

Be sure ‘user-path’ is setted correctly.

It would be a useful feature, but I don't know all pitfalls.

We can do ‘guix pull --url=$PWD’ in “Guix checkout” though.
