what PATH do i need to set?
How?
How do I make sure the shell refers to ´/home/sherab/.config/guix/current/bin/guix ´ ??

Thanks

You need to make sure that /home/sherab/.config/guix/current/bin comes
first in the list of directories in the PATH variable.

By adding something like this to your /etc/profile or ~/.bash_profile
file:

    export PATH="$HOME/.config/guix/current/bin:$PATH"

If you are using Guix System you don’t need to do anything.

You should run “hash guix” as the message says, and then you can run
“type guix” to confirm that the command “guix” resolves to the
executable at “/home/sherab/.config/guix/current/bin/guix”.

Hi Sherab,

You need to do the hint. :-)

Then for example, at the bottom of my ~/.basrc file, I have these lines:

--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
if [ -n "$GUIX_ENVIRONMENT" ]
then
    export PS1="\n[env]\n\w/\n\u@\h$ "
else
    source ~/.bash_profile
fi
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

And my ~/.bash_profile contains at least:

--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
export PATH="$HOME/.guix-profile/bin:$HOME/.guix-profile/sbin${PATH:+:}$PATH"

# the latest version lives there
# needs to be first in the PATH
export PATH="$HOME/.config/guix/current/bin${PATH:+:}$PATH"

export INFOPATH="$HOME/.guix-profile/share/info${INFOPATH:+:}$INFOPATH"
export INFOPATH="$HOME/.config/guix/current/share/info${INFOPATH:+:}$INFOPATH"

export GUIX_LOCPATH=$HOME/.guix-profile/lib/locale
#export LOCPATH=$HOME/.guix-profile/lib/locale
# from: https://github.com/pjotrp/guix-notes/blob/master/INSTALL.org#set-locale
#export LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8      # locale fix?
export LANG=en_GB.UTF-8         # locale fix
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

Hope that helps.

simon
