Hello,
Right now installing r-ggplot2 fails because dependency r-scales can't
be found on CRAN mirrors:

ERROR: download failed
"http://cran.../src/contrib/scales_0.2.5.tar.gz" 404 "Not Found"

Current version of r-scales is "0.3.0".

'guix download' output:

Messed up. It should say:

Current version of R package scales is 0.3.0. In Guix, version of
package r-scales is 0.2.5.

The output of 'guix download' shows the hash of the new "0.3.0"
version of scales.

Are old versions always removed from the CRAN mirrors?

Could you send a patch to update r-scales?

Hm, it looks like there is a separate URL for the latest tarball:

  mirror://cran/src/contrib/<package_version>.tar.gz

and an archive of the previous versions:

  mirror://cran/src/contrib/Archive/<package>/<package_version>.tar.gz

Then I think we should always add the two URLs and change the importer
to do so.

I’ll investigate this soon (most likely next week as I’m currently at a
conference) and update the importer.

My apologies for the inconvenience.  I did not know that the URLs are
not stable.

This has apparently failed from day 1, which is why there are no
substitutes available at hydra.gnu.org:

  http://hydra.gnu.org/job/gnu/master/r-scales-0.2.5.x86_64-linux
