Hello,
commit ee76417 contains the following change:
diff --git a/configure.ac b/configure.ac
-AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION([0.18.1])
+AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION([0.18.3])
Is this really necessary or just a side-effect of some automatic treatment?
It prevents compilation with debian stable, which has only version
0.18.1.1 of gettext.

It’s just that Gettext wanted to upgrade the version requirement, I
think.

Maybe you could install Gettext with Guix? :-)
Otherwise try lowering the version requirement, that may work.

Yes, that was what I did already.

But as I still think that it is good to keep guix bootstrapping from my
debian stable, I pushed a patch that lowers the version requirement again.
This does not seem to pose a problem.
