Hello!

So, I think we now want to start working on a bootable distro.

However, I would add a less ambitious 0.3 milestone, first, ideally to
be released before July. For 0.3, I would like to add actual
cross-compilation support. If everything goes well, that would allow
the MIPS/N64 port to be bootstrap (and perhaps an ARM port too?). 0.3
would also add interesting packages (GTK+, for instance), and bug fixes.
WDYT?

Working on support for a bootable distro will require some thought and
design, and that should be started ASAP. I’ll send an email in the next
few days to discuss my current thoughts.

Ludo’.

This looks like an attractive goal to me.

I started some work on gtk+, with a few tentative recipes for cairo and
pango. The cairo tests fail for the time being, and I will not be able to
investigate during the next two weeks.

Good. :-)

Could you perhaps commit Cairo with #:tests? #f for now? That would
“unblock” a few packages, and hopefully one of us can fix it eventually.

Thanks,
Ludo’.

It’s been almost two months since the 0.2 release. We achieved some of
the important items above (cross-compilation, and cross-compilation of
the bootstrap tools); other items are not ready yet (MIPS port, GTK+);
there are also bonuses, such as debugging info support.

So I would like to merge ‘core-updates’ soon, and release 0.3 within one
or two weeks.

Thoughts?

Ludo’.
