Eww: Howto: Edit suggested URL in the minibuffer

Eww's recent ability to suggests urls in the minibuffer is nice, but
how does one edit the suggested url, e.g., trimming off the final
component of the suggestion?

Like any other minibuffer default: type M-n to copy it to the edit
field.

That was the first I tried, doesn't work; not sure why -- will
investigate further.
Perhaps ido confusion -- does ido-mode muck with M-n?
