C-c C-c h runs the command html-href-anchor (found in mhtml-mode-map),
which is an interactive compiled Lisp function in ‘sgml-mode.el’.

Problem is it doesn't have filename expansion turned on.

As often we are putting in relative links into a document,
it would be great if we could tab expand even
../../me/bla.html
etc.

Entering http[s] links would not be affected.

The command requires an URL, and a file name isn't an URL.  But the
command could prepend a file:// to the file name, I guess, but I'm not
sure that doing file name completion on an input that's really an URL is
useful.  If you start typing http you don't want it to complete to files
starting with "http".

So I'm closing this bug report -- if somebody thinks the command should
work this way, please reopen.

No. 1:
Nobody would ever want to put file:/// into an HTML document intended
for the Internet. I'm not asking for that.

No. 2:
Everybody needs to be able to put *relative links*,
../../index.html
../index.html
index.html
bla.html
into a HTML document.

That's what I'm asking for.

And that's what the former HTML Helper Mode did fine.

No. 3:

Nobdoy should be encouraged to hardwire fully qualified https links when
a simple relative link to a page in the same directory is called for.
