* Help me setup transparency in Emacs

I am using IceWM and it is not compositing window manager. I can run
xcompmgr as standalone one and I have tried it with following
settings, but I cannot see transparency.

(set-frame-parameter nil 'alpha-background 50)
(add-to-list 'default-frame-alist '(alpha-background . 50))

Did anybody enable transparency xcompmgr?
