Hi all,

I would like to maintain octave.el if no one objects. I have sent out an
email to octave-help detailing my plan:

  http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gnu.octave.general/47927

I would also like to place octave.el in ELPA so that all emacs-24 users
can use it. Any thoughts on this? (for example how to avoid doing the
work twice?).

Leo

Put it solely in GNU ELPA?
I doubt that was the answer you wanted, but I always saw part of the
point of GNU ELPA as moving things out of "core", not in duplicating
things.

Let me think about that. I'll see if there are many requests. There are
at the moment only half a dozen users interested in testing octave.el.

Actually I suppose first the issue of how to integrate such packages
into releases should be addressed.

Another thing you could do is something like admin/org-synch.sh in the
elpa branch does, to install a "daily" snapshot into elpa. Maybe you
don't need that frequent.

Or keep it in trunk and elpa, and merge relevant changes into the elpa
branch.

octave.el should now work with older emacs-24 releases i.e. ready for
ELPA.

I definitely do not want to have it both in core and in ELPA at the
same time. I don't have a strong opinion about whether we should keep
it in core or move it to ELPA.

OK, for now I'll keep it in trunk.
