The last commit I have from git://repo.or.cz/emacs.git is:

Author: Julien Danjou <julien@danjou.info>
Date: Fri Apr 1 14:24:22 2011 +0000

mm-view.el (mm-display-inline-fontify): Do not fontify with
    fundamental-mode

Am I pulling from the wrong git?

Probably git://git.sv.gnu.org/emacs ought to be definitive? Doesn't
matter at present since that's similarly out of date.

(I presume the lexbind merge caused some complication that hasn't been
resolved yet. But it might just be that these are updated by hand and
the person who does it is on holiday.)

There is also

http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/emacs.git

but it looks like it is at the same revision as git://repo.or.cz/emacs.git.

Are they all maintained by the same person?

Christoph

In which case, who?

Still no updates since the first.

Is there only one person at Emacs-dev who is able to update git repos?

Maybe somebody can answer something about this issue?

Can't remember who was taking care of it, but IIRC yes we have
a single-point-of-failure here. Bzr still works, tho ;-)

repo.or.cz/emacs.git is maintained by Andreas Schwab who, BTW, made his
last appearance on this ml on April 1. I suspect he maintains the mirror
at Savannah too.

Apparently git://repo.or.cz/emacs.git is stalled again since 2011-05-02
and git://git.savannah.gnu.org/emacs.git was last updated on 2011-04-01.

Does anybody know of a current git emacs mirror?

There is another thread about this, it seem there is only one person
able to do that at Emacs dev actually...
I could get the bzr repo using rsync (thanks Stefan) and now i sync it
with bzr pull, which work more or less.
To use rsync see <http://savannah.gnu.org/bzr/?group=emacs>
The command line is:

rsync -av bzr.savannah.gnu.org::bzr/emacs/ my-working-copy/
(using -azv) is maybe faster.

Then go to the branch you want (e.g trunk) and

bzr checkout

Then to pull with bzr you have to edit:

"my-working-copy/trunk/.bzr/branch/branch.conf"

And add this line:

parent_location = bzr://bzr.savannah.gnu.org/emacs/trunk

Then you are able to 'bzr pull'.

After each failure run 'bzr break-lock' to try again.

Hope we will be able soon to just 'git-pull' ;-).

This is only to get a faster bzr checkout, right?

The main point of git for me is that "bzr diff" and "bzr log" take
ages. I'm not sure why bzr can't cache it somehow, but it's a pain in
the ass to use.

Anyway, I guess we just have to wait for Andreas to fix it.

I update mine from time to time, when I release the emacs-snapshot
Debian package (you want the `trunk' branch).

       http://git.debian.org/?p=users/acid/emacs-snapshot.git;a=summary

Don't expect it to be updated more than once a week though.

Worse, they use lots of bandwidth. But unless a Git mirror is directly
updated on a Bazaar commit, any Git mirror will break at some point.
Bazzar commits should send XMPP updates so interested parties (including
the Hydra guys) can subscribe and update immediately.

Ted

Just get it, 'bzr branch' fail always after 50mn about.

Only if you have a lightweight checkout, not a regular branch. And be
sure to upgrade to bzr 2.3 or later, it is much faster, at least for
"bzr log".

Huh? Do you have a lightweight checkout or something? That is an
absolute no-no with remote repositories. Otherwise, diff and log are
completely local operations that don't need any network.

Maybe for you, but not for everyone else. I had it run to completion
on 4 different machines.

I don't want to prolong yet another off-topic discussion of version
control systems, but in an effort to restore some balance, I just want
to say that as a daily user of the Emacs bzr repository, I find it works
very well for me. In addition, I find the Bazaar developer community to
be helpful and responsive, and I encourage anyone to actually try using
the latest version of Bazaar, and to report any issues you may have to
the appropriate Bazaar mailing lists (please, don't send your feedback
here).

You're right, I was merging the issue with the pulls that take up so
much bandwidth.

Ted

Older versions of bzr (e.g. 1.3) had exactly these symptoms when used
with certain proxies (I saw it with Polipo, which is a pretty standards-
compliant proxy as these things go).

Unsetting HTTP_PROXY before running bzr fixed it, but it still took
forever: bzr 2.3 is much much better.

Ah, right, much better thank you. Ok I don't care about git now. :-)
