Could we give it a more scary name, to clarify that it's just an
internal hack?
On `master` I think we should replace that with something a bit more
general/generic (i.e. not tied to the tab-bar) so it could be used for
other kinds of drag&drop ELisp code.

Isn't the "-maybe" postifx scary enough? I leave it to Juri to find a
more suitable name (with a "--" in it, maybe).
