Hi,
I have two questions about fns.el:
- Why is it installed in an architecture-dependent location
i.e. /usr/lib/emacs/21.3/<arch> ?
- Why isn't it byte-compiled?
Thanks in advance.

We have eliminated fns.el nowadays, but here are the answers.
I have two questions about fns.el:
- Why is it installed in an architecture-dependent location
i.e. /usr/lib/emacs/21.3/<arch> ?
Because different platforms might have different primitive functions.
- Why isn't it byte-compiled?
Because compiling it would not give any benefit.

I noticed this. I should have mentioned the current stable version.
My question was related to a Debian user who asked for fns.el
byte-compiling.
