Can't compile anymore latest master on MacOS 10.15 with fink, fingerprint problem, info?

Hi 

I am running MacOS 10.15 with fink.

I could  compile emacs master

d53ee1cb3eca055d6115e4827b00d34431322be0

From may last year I run into difficulties with 

Master 

ac2708bf6f83dfb965694381c4e9d0c71f61bd0c

From today.

First emacs now requires info version >4.13 while fink still ships 4.8. 

I asked the fink maintainers to update, but is this version really
necessary?

Meanwhile I just copied the info files from 
d53ee1cb3eca055d6115e4827b00d34431322be0
into 
ac2708bf6f83dfb965694381c4e9d0c71f61bd0c

(I fortunately have two directories of these commits)

But then I run into another  strange problem

I deleted that pdmp file, compilation started again but then finally I
obtained


Which looks like the info version problem mentioned earlier.

You need a newer Texinfo.  It's a requirement for building Emacs from
Git.

Ok, two questions then

    1. Is that also the case for 28.1?

    2. I tried to search the logs, when was the requirement for >4.13
       added? Do you remember. I can't find it.

I now tried to checkout tag 28.1 and then 27.1

In both cases configure complained about the info version, but that confuses me a bit, 27.1 should compile with older version of texinfo, shouldn't it?


What do I miss here?

I think 27.1 supported being configured to not build the info
documentation.

The makeinfo that comes with macOS is apparently really old, you should
update.

Yes.

Not > 4.13, but >= 4.13.  Version 4.13 should still work.  We started
requiring that in Emacs 25.2, AFAICT.

However, if you are upgrading, I suggest to upgrade to the latest
version, which is 6.8.

Ok I see, what I don't understand is that I could compile master from may 2021. I checked that configure complained about the missing version, but it compiled and generated a Emacs.app that I could use. Very very strange.
