I'm obviously out of the loop here but isn't ERC shipped
with/in vanilla Emacs already?
So why would one put it in ELPA (no disrespect)?
Or are we outsourcing key Emacs resources to remote
repositories, much like the KGB did the Soviet Union's
monetary and natural reserves, just before it collapsed?
