It's been pointed out to me that I might want to change the name of
boxy-headlines to boxy-headings in order to follow along with org-mode's
attempts to standardize terminology.
Any advice on if or how to do this?

The package has been renamed to boxy-headings and will be available of
ELPA soon.

by the way, boxy-headings seem to not work well with Chinese, please see:
