Good news!
Xaw3d has a maintainer again and has a brand new release 1.5E
which should fix the problem we're having with it, so that it will
behave just like the native scrollbar.
There's still a minor problem with it w.r.t the thumb size
in the case where it was compiled with SCROLLBAR_ARROWS, but
I'm trying to get it fixed for the next release (and it's not
a big deal anyway).
