If I start emacs with an unrecognized argument I can work. Here is the
*Messages* buffer (note the redisplay errors):

2. The cursor is a hollow box (like an inactive window) in all
windows. It changes it's color but not its shape.

3. The Hebrew characters are displayed as hollow boxes (it shows
all right with the same font on emacs 21.1).
