I didn't install my patch because IIUC it interferes with some other
bindings (it takes over a particular ESC prefix which some other
package also needs to use). IOW it needs to be improved so that it can
cooperate with other users of such key sequences.
IIRC `xt-mouse.el` is affected, for example.
