M-: (eval-minibuffer "Sexp: ")
Type: global-map RET

As you can see from this example, it would be good if we showed some
feedback to let users know that Emacs is thinking. ;-)

In GNU Emacs 24.0.50.1 (i386-mingw-nt5.1.2600)
 of 2011-02-14 on 3249CTO
Windowing system distributor `Microsoft Corp.', version 5.1.2600
configured using `configure --with-gcc (4.4) --no-opt --cflags
-Ic:/imagesupport/include'

No, I disagree. That would be very annoying, in my opinion, so I'm
closing this report.

Why would it be annoying?
It is standard Emacs UI practice to show such a progress message:

 Loading foo.el...

 Loading foo.el...done

Because `eval-minibuffer' displays the result in the minibuffer, and
having it flash stuff there just before displaying would not be good.

I'm closing this report again. If the emacs maintainers wish to reopen
it again, they can do so.
