Gentlemen, I have discovered the " *Deletions*" buffer dired makes has
wasteful tabs etc. in it. Mom will be proud. According to cat -vte output:
.ICE-unix hhh.txt.~1~ hhh.txt.~3~ hhh.txt.~5~ ^I^I $
Just mark some files and hit x (dired-do-flagged-delete) and analyze
the " *Deletions*" buffer with od -c or cat -vte to see them.
With (setq-default show-trailing-whitespace t) in .emacs, you never
know what you will discover next!
