In perl or cperl mode, the first "}" does not light up momentarily when
entered. Only the second.
{print qq{x}}

The final quote of "xxxxxx"
doesn't blink either.

OK, maybe such blinking is off by default.

Indeed, only parentheses are blinkey, not quotes, and qq{x} is a quote.
