This bug report will be sent to the Bug-GNU-Emacs mailing list
and the GNU bug tracker at debbugs.gnu.org. Please check that
the From: line contains a valid email address. After a delay of up
to one day, you should receive an acknowledgment at that address.

Please write in English if possible, as the Emacs maintainers
usually do not have translators for other languages.

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug, and
the precise symptoms of the bug. If you can, give a recipe
starting from `emacs -Q':

I'm trying to compute a linear best fit equation. I don't understand
why the expression is too complex:

to create the matrix:

[ [ 1, 2]
  [ 1, 2] ]

and then to ask for the linear best fit line:

a F 1

1: fit(a + b x, x, [a, b], [ [ 1, 2 ] )

which is reported as 'curve is too complex'.

Where do I start looking?

thanks,

(emacs is not crashing, calc is just getting confused.)

If Emacs crashed, and you have the Emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
For information about debugging Emacs, please read the file
/usr/share/emacs/24.3/etc/DEBUG.

Umm, for the record, how?
Is it a user error; will it be fixed in 24.4; or ...?

Sorry; my first reply to Bart (containing a patch) was CCed to
done-16629@debbugs.gnu.org instead of 16629-done@debbugs.gnu.org, so I
quickly wrote another note to close the bug. I should have resent
the original note.

It was a bug introduced in 24.3, which was fixed in the bzr version
of Emacs a little while ago. So it will be fixed in 24.4

Jay
