It would be nice if gas-mode.el
(http://www.hczim.de/software/gas-mode.html) would be added to emacs.
It is a good mode for editing assembly.

IMO it would be better to give it a spin for a bit in the core emacs,
and if no problems are found, just replace asm-mode.el (it has less
features, and hasn't seen much develpment in quite a while)

That was 10 years ago, and there were no further updates.

It doesn't look like that's been updated for a decade, either, so it
pretty much looks like it's a dead project. I can't recall anybody else
asking for the mode to be included in ELPA, either, so I don't think
we're going to see any further progress in this bug report, and I'm
closing it.
