Hi,

When sending a message with Gnus, the "To" and "From" fields are encoded
like this:

=?utf-8?Q?Peter_M=C3=BCnster?= <pm@a16n.net>

This seems to be ok.

But the value of the Disposition-Notification-To field is encoded like
this:

"Peter =?utf-8?Q?M=C3=BCnster=22?=
 <pm@a16n.net>

This seems to be wrong, because Postfix tries to "fix" it.

How could I get the right encoding for the Disposition-Notification-To
field please?

TIA for any help,
--
           Peter

I've now fixed this in Emacs 29.

The encoding is correct, but itʼs the encoding of

"Peter Münster" <pm@a16n.net>

whilst the From is the encoding of

Peter Münster <pm@a16n.net>

How are you generating Disposition-Notification-To?

Robert

Sure? After Lars's commit, it works.

Yes, indeed.

I don't know.

In the message buffer it's always "Peter Münster" <pm@a16n.net>
for the From: field and the Disposition-Notification-To: field.

With:

C-c M-n runs the command message-insert-disposition-notification-to

Yes, it was correctly rfc2047-encoded, just not correctly rfc2047-encoded for
address headers :-)
