Hello!

While a compilation of ImageMagick is going on in some other space the
reaction of Emacs.app to pressing the Help menu in  menu bar the
spinning beach ball. Minutes long. After a few such actions – you
have already forgotten that you did this some time, possibly days, ago
– the menu opens for a moment many times consecutively, possibly as
many times as I pressed the Help menu. Mail opens Help menu almost at
once, only OmniWeb is a bit slow, but my finger did not start to hurt
when it finally opened and my finger was still filled with blood.

Is this problem still present in Emacs 24?

Today I could make a test on PPC Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4.11) and the NS variant behaved very fine. I hope to test tomorrow on Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.8).

Tests can be done with GNU Emacs 24.3 and 24.3.50, though on Tiger the latter's variants cannot be built since some months ("too many regions"). I'm not sure whether I have an up-to-date version on Leopard.

On PPC Leopard, Mac OS X 10.5.8, GNU Emacs 24.3 took minutes to open the Help menu – but it did not crash anymore! GNU Emacs 24.3.50 from November was a bit faster and stable as well.
