math in parentheses

Hi,

I encounter a problem using $..$ expressions when they are enclosed
in parentheses.


This sample

#+TITLE: Test Math

* Some math
This $T$ works, but ($T$) this does not.
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---

exports to (relevant part)

--8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8---
\section{Some math}
\label{sec-1}
This \(T\) works, but (\$T\$) this does not.
--8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8---


Is that expected behaviour?


(Note that \(...\) expressions work.)

- OS X 10.9.4
- GNU Emacs 24.4.50.1
- Org-mode version 8.3beta
