Pardon me for resurrecting an old thread, but I am sorry to report that I'm=
 experiencing the issue described below today.

Since I use eschulte's starter kit for my emacs initialization, it's not ea=
sy to start a fresh emacs and install org-mode from ELPA before calling any=
 org-mode functions.

Presently I'm going to start emacs -Q and manually set up the package repos=
 and install org-mode.

I'm vaguely concerned that it will get installed in the wrong directory or =
something...  Let's see.
