I haven't looked at the error yet, but I would guess
(require 'ox)
is the closest equivalent. But the exporter has changed so much that it
would not be surprising if this doesn't work either.
However, I just tried M-x org-preview-latex-fragment on a buffer in
fundamental mode and that worked for me, so there is hope.
