Rename GNU Jami Package in Guix?

Rename GNU Jami Package in Guix?

Hello Guix!

As per jami.net, it appears GNU Jami is cross-platform and desktop-
environment independent. The Jami package in Guix is named as "jami-
client-gnome", which is misleading that it can only be used with GNOME.
So shouldn't the package be renamed to just "jami"?

I agree, it's a GNOME app although the ring.cx launcher supports KDE
explicitly.  Anyways, I see no need to leave the "-client-gnome" part.

By the way, the Jami package is severely outdated now, if anyone has
time to work on it... :)

Thanks :-). Well, if we leave that part, it will be straight-forward
that it can used with any DE and not just GNOME right?

OMG! That is actually bad. :-/. It is one of the FSF's High Priority
Project and is the best drop-in replecement of non-free communications
apps like skype etc. I hope someone could work on this.

Don't have the time at the moment, but if someone is interested in
picking this up, we need to update which patches are applied to
pjproject, I think it's the only part that's broken with the recent
versions.  Looking at upstream's log will probably help with
understanding which patches we need for Guix.
