* Is it dangerous to run guix home/system reconfigure from an uninstalled / development Guix profile?

When I develop for RDE, I'd like to be able to see the result on a real
system quicker. The bootleneck here is the compilation of a new guix,
whereas I have one readily available in my development directory.
I wonder if there are any hazards to using a development version of Guix
to update one's home/system profile (other than potentially loosing the
repo/commit and not being able to go back to the same state) ?

Only you know what's in it!
I use my own development branch exclusively to reconfigure my systems.
Also, as an aside, does Guix recommend anything other than the official
development branch?
Kind regards
Felix

Is that not close to a contradictio in adiecto? If we recommended anything
else, would it not become official?
Actually I usually work on top of master; probably it would make sense
to use a team branch instead if one is interested in contributing to
that team.

Thanks for your answer Felix. IIUC, in
/var/guix/profiles/per-user/{you}, we have current-profile and
guix-home. When you update your profile using your development branch,
do you also somehow set your current-profile to your development branch?
I think that is what I want to do, and then guix home reconfigure from
there. WDYT ?
