Hello Guix!
Release progress: week 6.
• ‘make assert-binaries-available’ reports 92.3% coverage (details
below), similar to last week. Please give a hand! :-)
• Architectures:
- i586-gnu: as proposed last week, I’ll drop i586-gnu from
‘etc/release-manifest.scm’.
- armhf-linux: Mathieu re-queued a number of armhf-linux builds
since last week but that hasn’t had a visible effect so far.
- aarch64-linux: Little progress: Emacs is now available on ci.guix
but it’s not clear while the others aren’t showing up, even after
restarting them in the Cuirass interface.
It would seem that a lot of aarch64 builds are queued but not
getting processed. Any idea how to investigate that, Mathieu?
- powerpc64le-linux: No progress.
• Installer:
- Patch to report unsupported devices now applied.
<https://issues.guix.gnu.org/59003>
Should we send out a call for testing the installer? Looks like
we’re ready, no?
• Release issue <https://issues.guix.gnu.org/53214> blocked by 2 open
bugs, down from 5!
58221 nautilus: Crashes loading KgxNautilus plugin twice (problems with NAUTILUS_EXTENSION_PATH)
53594 no matching pattern #<package polkit..
• Others:
- Shepherd 0.9.3 release fixes two bugs!

Can we bypass cuirass building the packages and from Berlin ask for the
packages to be built? Then it'll offload to the appropriate machine and
should show up faster for make assert-binaries-available.
Other idea I suppose would be to add another job to cuirass with a
higher priority than current master just for the manifest
release-manifest.scm to make sure it's always available.

Might as well, seems better than cutting a 1.4.1 about a month later
with installer fixes.

That would be because we only had a single ARM machine available till
this week (kreuzberg). It seems that overdrive1 and grunewald are back
though!
I also noticed that my recent remote worker fix was not working as
expected. The workers are not blocked anymore after a remote server
disconnection but some builds are flagged as submitted even though they
are not received by the worker.

Sure, I'll take care of that on Monday.

Thanks for your work on that topic. It looks like we are getting closer :)

OK, that would explain it.

I’m thinking we might as well do a proper RC1, produced by “make
release”. Maybe not today, but tomorrow we may have everything ready?
Thanks,
Ludo’.

Yes, I shamelessly ended up doing that: running “guix build” on berlin
to fill in the gaps. :-)
