Subject: bug#58044: Localization: "info guix" always shows the manual in English regardless of the user locale
Date: Sat, 24 Sep 2022 16:23:28 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <JWB_J2XmFMNm3fD1wh5c5qIzwMvcX3cXISolYnC1396FRuaoteguMF-3WSQ3pN9prtCNxSoecCqvWSXOoS8ENFaf4luJHMeDt4UO7KLAipc=@protonmail.com> (raw)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Assuming you have the fr_FR.utf8 locale (which comes with the glibc-locales package):
1. Launch a terminal
2. Run the following command:
LANG=fr_FR.utf8 info guix
EXPECTED RESULT
☑ The info program is displayed in French
☑ The Guix manual is displayed in French
UNEXPECTED RESULT
☑ The info program is displayed in French
☒ The Guix manual is displayed in English instead of French
(Note that according to Weblate the Guix manual is fully translated into French.)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I understand the first paragraph of the manual links to the manual in other languages, but people who can't read English might just overlook that information.
