If more releases pose a problem, then yes, we've increased the problem.
The set of challenges imposed by a release are not clear.  As well, it's
unclear whether the challenges are insurmountable, and if not what the
cost of overcoming them is.

However, in order to keep the discussion about releases focused, I
agree/propose that this tangent, about possibly splitting up the
monolithic Guix channel, be discussed in a separate thread (by those
interested).
