This is really a Libtool question, but the solution is that, to debug =E2=80=98util/foo=E2=80=99 without having to worry about whether there=E2= =80=99s an =E2=80=98lt-=E2=80=99 prefix or not, just run: ./libtool --mode=3Dexecute gdb src/util/foo core HTH!
