The environment variable that triggers the bug is “LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.utf8”,
which I have set in Emacs.

To fix this I submitted a patch to guix-devel a few minutes ago.  It
replaces “iconv” in src/man.c with the full path to glibc’s “iconv”.
