I'm not a specialist, but propagating the input sounds like the correct way of doing it. It makes sense to me that if you install ghc-glut, you're going to need freeglut available. I didn't see your patch however; will you apply it or should i? Also, strange that it worked for me before i pushed, as well as at one point i looked at Hydra and all my Haskell packages were building correctly. Unreliable builds are the worst :( p.
