Sure.  I do this on my home server, so I never have to worry about=20
rebooting headlessly after swapping a RAID drive (or have to=20
install GRUB on every single one).

You've lost me here, though.  Why is this needed?  What needs to=20
work?

Oh=E2=80=A6  are you using some hardware RAID that GRUB can't see?

Does it provide advantages that mdraid wouldn't?
