I have a questiont that I guess I could have asked a different page, but
I figured that I would actually get a timely response here. Here it is:

Do I need to submit a FSF copyright assignment to contribute to a package if
the package is not copyrighted under the FSF?

If by ‘package’ you mean a Guix package recipe, or indeed any part of
the Guix source tree: no. Even pseudonymous copyright statements are
accepted.

If you mean something else, I'm not quite sure what it is, but I am
pretty sure the answer is still ’no’.

Guix does not require FSF copyright assignment.  Contributing a package
definition to Guix is not the same as contributing to the upstream
project providing the software that we build.

Take Emacs, for example, a project requiring copyright assignment.
Providing a package definition for Emacs to Guix does not contribute to
the Emacs project, so no copyright assignment is required.
