But it doesn't. Scanning is also a service in Guix, so you will need to configure it in your config.scm. The Guix info manual is very helpful in answering questions like this. Here, it looks like the solution is in the manual on the page called "Printing Services". The service that you need for scanning is called "sane-service-type". It looks like it is included by default in the "%desktop-services" list, so you should already have it installed. However, it looks like you may need to configure the `sane-backends` variable in your config.scm to activate scanning for your printer. Here is the relevant documentation from the manual: =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D -- Scheme Variable: sane-service-type This service provides access to scanners via SANE (http://www.sane-project.org) by installing the necessary udev rules. It is included in =E2=80=98%desktop-services=E2=80=99 (*note D= esktop Services::) and relies by default on =E2=80=98sane-backends-minimal=E2= =80=99 package (see below) for hardware support. -- Scheme Variable: sane-backends-minimal The default package which the =E2=80=98sane-service-type=E2=80=99 inst= alls. In order to us= e this on a system which relies on =E2=80=98%desktop-services=E2=80=99, you may use =E2=80=98modify-services=E2=80=99 (*note =E2=80=98modify-services=E2= =80=99: Service Reference.) as illustrated below: (use-modules (gnu)) (use-service-modules ... desktop) (use-package-modules ... scanner) (define %my-desktop-services ;; List of desktop services that supports a broader range of sc= anners.
