How do you make CD/DVD work?

How do you make CD/DVD work?

Hi, I never managed to get CD/DVD working on the Guix System. I already reported this as a bug (http://issues.guix.gnu.org/issue/35584), but I was wondering if other people have this working and maybe if they had to add something to their OS configuration to make it work.

Same here, when I insert DVDs or CDs nothing happens... Can't read
them... Nothing in /media

I can successfully burn using brasero and the DVD is mounted on
insertion.  This sometimes does not work, which I blame on my DVD
drive which is flaky also on other computers and operating systems.

I do not need to change my GNOME desktop configuration to use my real
DVD drive (only if I want to emulate a drive with cdemu do I need
vhba-module).

Yes, after running as root

insmod /run/current-system/profile/lib/modules/*/extra/vhba.ko
chown florian /dev/vhba_ctl

and as user florian

cdemu-daemon &
cdemu load 0 path/to/image.iso
…
cdemu unload 0
pkill cdemu-daemon

We should probably provide a service that loads the kernel module and
sets /dev/vhba_ctl to the right group.
Then users in the right group would be able to use it directly.

Thoughts?
