However, now I get the freeze again at around 75 %:

This command did work last time as root.  It only worked once.
Special things to note this time:

- it hangs at 75.4 % instead of 75.2 %;
- it took over 10 h to give me back control, whereas this used to be
  a bit over 2 h in previous tries;
- using only one core did not help this time.

What is Guix doing between 75.2 and 75.4 %?
