Most operating systems have a "post-install" hook which runs fc-cache and other things. I forget about this, to be reminded of things you used to do years ago is good. Maybe I should just set a user-cronjob with this and forget about it again. ng0 transcribed 4.4K bytes: > I have run 'fc-cache -rfv' and now at least the following happened: > > * libreoffice has visible text again > * xfce4-terminal can select every installed font (but does not display every preview of it correct) > * icecat is unchanged > > I'm waiting for the profile software update and will look into more effects tomorrow. > > ng0 transcribed 102K bytes: > > Well it is worse than icecat now that I have removed every WM/DM but Xfce4. > > > > Most applications still display text, but libreoffice can be seen in the appended screenshot. > > ng0 transcribed 3.4K bytes: > > > Chris Marusich transcribed 237K bytes: > > > > ng0 writes: > > > > > > > > > Here is a visual display of some fonts: https://ptpb.pw/EQfV.png > > > > > > > > > > This is either related to icecat changes or to changes with font > > > > > related packages. > > > > > > > > The same page (presumably http://www.bbc.com/) renders fine for me; no > > > > boxes, all glyphs appear to be rendered correctly.
