Subject: Guix gc removing important packages?
Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2014 11:00:36 +0200 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <20140926090036.GA22248@debian.eduroam.u-bordeaux.fr> (raw)
I just did the following:
guix package -d
guix gc
to have only the current profile and its packages on my disk.
Then I wanted to delete one package:
guix package -r texlive
This resulted in the following output:
The following package will be removed:
texlive 2013 /gnu/store/in5hhsj3335k1mkdq15y855mya430c6v-texlive-2013
The following derivations will be built:
/gnu/store/js1h46v2cmw94s22875jp1ijzagp99dw-profile.drv
/gnu/store/b4dp41cyfrfhamjfslj3n0x1lsnqqnl9-info-dir.drv

Is this normal? Should removing packages not be possible without an internet
connection? Does "guix gc" need to be modified to keep essential packages
registered?
