Good morning all,

For reasons I can’t divine, guix broke on my CentOS7 system and reinstalling does not fix the problem. What might be going on here?

```
This script installs GNU Guix on your system
My $LD_LIBRARY_PATH after installation is the following
```

I suspect Oracle’s `sqlplus` is to blame, but the changes made by that install are effectively undocumented.

What if you run LD_LIBRARY_PATH= guix (resetting LD_LIBRARY_PATH)? If that doesn't help, what's in your environment (env command)?

Guix is entirely unusable, so I can’t apply your suggestion.

Did you modify the installer script ?

I ask because I cannot find any reference to the "system" init
system that is shown in your output quoted above, current code
only has: upstart, systemd & sysv-init. (more to come in the
future).

Could you check that the script is pristine, or send us a copy
of the one you used, maybe there's something there that will
give us a clue about what's happening ?

Thanks

I understand, that's why I'm asking if it works better after you unset $LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Binaries in the store should never try to use anything in /usr as bash seems to be doing, and since you mention $LD_LIBRARY_PATH, I thought it could be the culprit. Whatever happens, something in your system is breaking guix' assumption and forces guix' bash to load a random library from the system, instead of the store.

You can try to run ldd on that bash binary to see if you see any mention of /usr.

I don't see $LD_LIBRARY_PATH below though, so it's not set after all?

I’m having to do all of this through WSL. My work’s IT actively campaigns against Linux.

Thanks

The implication being that I have to do a lot of manual fixing of copy+pastes. I probably accidentally deleted the ‘d’.
